A project on self sustenance at Palai Village
The skills of the women were identified and were encouraged to draw inspiration from the environment and surroundings. The process of fabric collection, washing, colour separation and finishing were explained. various fabric manipulation techniques such as, embroidery, applique, patchwork, reverse applique, pattern making and products such as school bags, wall decorations, tote bags, coasters and bottle holders were developed.
The project had a successful start with the help of our mentor Dr. Maneet Kaur, the team Samta Ji, Tamu Ji, and our friends, Nidhi Singh, Sakshi, Leena Kapalishwaran, Sangeeta Samant from the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design.
